Defence Industry Pathways Traineeship

 

PEER, in collaboration with the Commonwealth and Australian Governments, are seeking applications for the upcoming intake of the Defence Industry Pathways Program (DIPP). This new initiative for South Australians presents an amazing opportunity where you will undertake a 12-month Certificate III Defence Industry Pathways Program traineeship.

 

The traineeship provides exposure to a broad range of career opportunities within defence industry and offers vital hands-on experience and education across manufacturing and engineering, computing, logistics, procurement and supply chain, and technical & computer aided drawing (CAD).

 

Start your career with purpose within  defence industry with a multifaceted learning experience consisting of on-campus study at TAFE Regency Park and on-the-job training with   host employers operating at the forefront of defence industry through work placement blocks.

 

About the Traineeship

  • Ideal for anyone considering a career in construction and maintenance of nuclear powered submarines, naval fleet and/or the defence industry.
  • Enjoy a hybrid (TAFE SA and host employers) curriculum which includes cyber security, engineering and logistics subjects.
  • A 12-month commitment with high potential for ongoing employment with defence industry upon successful completion.
  • Gain work experience at a variety of defence industry companies located at Osborne Naval Shipbuilding Precinct as well as various other SA locations.
  • Receive ongoing support and guidance from dedicated mentors, coaches, and educators throughout the traineeship.
  • Be paid for the duration of the traineeship (includes annual leave, personal leave and superannuation).

  • Punctual and can travel to work in their own vehicle or have other reliable transport arrangement
  • Problem solvers and team players who have a genuine interest in the defence industry
  • Resilient, reliable and hungry to work hard and build a successful career
  • Have a general awareness of Health and Safety at work
  • Computer literate and have a sound level of numeracy and literacy.

Candidates must satisfactorily pass a National Police Clearance, Baseline Security Check (must be an Australian citizen) and medical checks including drug & alcohol screening before a formal offer of employment is provided.  Eligibility criteria apply in relation to work rights.

As a trainee you will be paid in accordance with the National Training Wage.
